The Batter Fish and Chips Shop

First time I have used The Batter Fish and Chips” , very happy with food , the Snspper a good size and cooked perfectly, chips nice and crisp and crab stick were yum. Lady who cooked/ served friendly . All in all excellent will go back again .Slightest whinge - surcharge for eftpos , but guess business passing on cost.

Never in my life have I received such a small serving of fish and chips. This cost $34!!Paid extra for grilled fish and there was still flour all over it.$1.50 surcharge to pay with eftpos card is not acceptable in this day and age!!Was recommend to try this place out but NEVER AGAINGo to Ashburton fish and chips and you would pay $15 for this size.

solid claim to be the best fish and chips. the lady at the counter was super friendly and helpful. we got the snapper in a family pack and the fish was fresh and a big portion. they even threw in a couple of freebies since we had a large order. and everything was delicious!

After my local fish and chips have been hit and miss lately, I decided to try something a little out of my area. I had a few mates over for the weekend so I decided to make a large order.Margaret’s service was outstanding and made sure that we got our money’s worth with a few extra crab sticks.Food was prepared on time and even though it was 15mins away, fish was fresh and crispy as were the chips.Definitely a few full and satisfied bellies that night.You would think that its hard to get fish and chips wrong but so many joints seem to do so. Not here. They definitely hit the spot.Thank you for your amazing food and service!

I have to review this shop, I have had others around this area, none come close to their fish and chips and I have been going here for years now. I had a hankering for fish and chips and tonight just hit the spot perfectly.I always upgrade to the snapper, it is always nice and thick flakes of fish and its not your usual thinly sliced fillet. The batter is crispy on each bite and somehow they manage to not make it oily, you wont feel like you consumed litres of oil after eating these fish and chips. They also threw in some extra crab sticks in the family meal and they were so good!Lastly, my wife is a coeliac (gluten free) and they use a separate fryer to cook their chips and the gluten free fish is on the grill. They have a few other menu items you can get gluten free as well.So far the wife has not had a reaction from the fish and chips here and it doesn't take much for her to get sick if she has any gluten. Its hard to find somewhere for gluten free people to eat, especially fish and chips!Sorry no photos! The food didn't last after the kids smashed it!

The best fish and chips I have had in 10 years or ever. Awesome little shop, warm, inviting & friendly. Even provides a play area for kids to distract them while waiting for your delicious, perfectly cooked, overflowing with love order. A must go place for lovers of Fish and chips! Highlight of my year.

The fish is so fresh, nice and juicy. The chips are perfect. The complimentary crab sticks r very good. My kids and I enjoyed our dinner so much! We keep coming back cos we love it! Very friendly service and generous portions!
